Under 7's @ Norfolk FA Soccer on the Sands, Great Yarmouth - 6th June
Sunday 06 June 2010 - 21:21:52 in Match Reports

The under 7's had a cracking day out on the beach at Great Yarmouth.

Norfolk FA had adopted the upcoming World Cup as a theme for their festival and every team in each age group was chosen to represent one of the nations taking part in South Africa. We would represent Spain and at the start of the day, the players were handed T-Shirts with the name of their team on the back. In our group of four teams, we would face Argentina (represented by Drayton), Algeria (Martham) and the USA (Feltwell).

We were all a little nervous how we would actually get on playing on sand but fortunately we were first on against Argentina and once we realised the ball didn't quite behave like it does on grass, played some good football with Bradley and Owen both scoring.

After some ice creams, we took on Algeria and were now well in the swing of things, with Bradley, Kian and Alex H getting on the score sheet. All the boys were enjoying the day and Harvey, increasing in confidence every week in goal, kept his first clean sheet.

Final match was against USA and again the boys improved further, Alex S for us. Richard and James were both unlucky not to score in the final period.

A really well organized and fun day out, we were finished by 1.30, so plenty of time to walk up to the Pleasure Beach and have a go on some rides as well.

Thanks to everyone for making the effort with the early start, I think we all agreed it was worth it.

Just got to get all the sand out of the medical bag now...
